what should i mate my roo with? Im starting a new flock!

I say mate him with whatever you want.

If you want colored eggs, mate him with a green, blue, or brown egg layer. If you want neat colors such as his, try and keep on the track of Wheaten or Duckwing based colors. Keep away from solid colors like black, blue, or white. If you find a blue based color though, instead of solid blue, you'll get some gorgeous splashy versions too.

Black copper marans lay chocolate eggs, and my costomers love them. I have 2 hens and they are fairly docile and friendly. And under and Ameraucana or some EE roos the BCMs will produce chicks that will lay a olive egg. Which is really cool! And I want some!!!

You should get some Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Marans in there. . .

They provide a much prettier resulting color of Olive Egger, instead of a normal black color like most BCM parents provide, and still produce the gorgeous olive eggs.

I noticed you're local too. I should pester you into some of my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Marans.

- When they start laying again.
