What should I see/hear on day 23 of call ducks?

It is my first time hatching ducks and we decided to go with call ducks, just wondering what to expect today (day 23)

The egg should be mostly full of duckling, positioned for hatching, with just a little bit of liquid on top of the embryo and only a few visible veins (if you candle. Do you candle?) One or two of the more lively ones might start pushing against the top of the internal membrane, trying to break it, or position themselves better. The yolk is starting to be absorbed.

Calls might hatch early. I've never hatched them, only standard ducks. If they're quality calls, they'll have short bills, and might need some assistance cracking open that egg.

EDT: Unless you candle, you shouldn't see or hear anything at all. Day twenty-three is rather early.

Hello, thanks for your reply. I candled and could see a dark shadow inside. one or 2 of the eggs have started to move slightly. Very excited for hatching!

My Calls hatch around day 26, but a few factors can affect whether they will hatch on that date or not. On day 23, I might suspect some shadowing along the air cell, or an internal pip that was just made.

Calls often need to be assisted due to their short bills, especially one's close to the standard. I would highly recommend reading this article,

Thank you for replying, I will read the article :)
