What should you get rid of?

I'm taking advantage of the local Craigslist to rehome some of my Roosters, and a few of the hens that Im not going to work with, or that I have too many of. Some of the people are just neat enough that I'll give em some of my good birds too! I like them to have homes as pets for the best option!
Today I found homes for 1 Cuckoo Marans Roo, 1 Cuckoo Marans/White Leghorn Mix Roo, 1 Mottled Houdan, 1 Barred Holland, and 1 Buff Polish!!
Tina/tfpets

The list goes on and on and on...........

I want to focus on pretty egg layers, Marans, and Araucana. (And I have to keep my pets/Special Needs birds!)

Well, last year, a friend of ours brought over a new 'alarm clock' for my oldest who started school. Yeah, cute huh. Well, that alarm clock is my own worst enemy, Popcorn, the leghorn. Then the girls decided Popcorn needed a girlfriend, so we got 'Yssa Hen. From them, we ended up buying a few more chickens, then guineas (had ticks really bad here from the sand and oilfield surrounding us). Then people started driving into our yard, wanting to buy our birds, so we starting buying chicks, then selling them. From that, we now have, a business of selling birds, golden phesants, and ringneck pheasants, guineas, peafowl, ooo and all those are gonna make us serious money this spring, muhahahaha. And also, our chickens, and the 3 incubators.
So the question really shouldn't be, what should you get rid of, but more like, how far overboard have you gone since you started with one chicken.

Writer, can I send you a wayward Polish roo?

He's not the handsomest guy ever - the girls pluck his hat right off his head - and the matching Polish hen can't stand him. And he isn't much of a flock guardian, running away at the first sight of trouble. Yesterday he almost had a heart attack when he saw my purple crocs. Poor silly dude.

I have days when I think of getting rid of all of them. Usually right after Ive waded through 5 inches of flooded muck from a busted waterline to rescue a coupled roosters who are too stupid to figure out how to go up the ladder to the roost with their girls. The entire pen/coop is flooded, slippery, and really really gross and of course I would be wearing tennis shoes with a hole in the toe and no socks.... and it would be dark. Oh wait, that was last night!

Morning comes and the sun shines, the birds are adorable, and I forgive them for the trouble they are, wondering how I could have ever thought about parting with any of them.

But then Ive got to unload 700 lbs of feed and I start wondering if I really need quite this many birds.

Wish I could stand the 10 hour drive (there and back) and I'd take the 4 JG hens off of your hands.

Oh well... I've got to work tomorrow.

Well I just spared myself a BUNCH of rooster and rooster chicks. Boy having them gone has lightened my feed bill. That being said, I have a few birds I should part with soon. One is a Birchen Cochin rooster. He is incorrectly marked. For the longest time I thought it was a pullet but here lately its only too obvious that its a roo. I'm just in denile. So I need to part with it. I have a Silver Sebright rooster who's not hen feathered so he needs to go. But I don't plan to do anything with these two. I mean I need a roo on my bantam mix, but I don't need both. LOL Not to mention 2 extra Cuckoo Marans roosters too. Always roos have you noticed? I managed to combine all my odds and ends layers into one big layer flock. Need to part with the rooster in there and put a Marans rooster with them to hatch out darker layers.

I was going to do 1 Cochin project but some how or another I've managed to get myself involved in 3! Ha!!!

Hi, my name is Cynthia, and i'm a chickenholic.
Srsly. I have more breeds of chickens than any one person should have, and i've only got about 50 chickens.

Big ones:
1 BO hen
2 BLRW hens
2 Ameraucana hens
1 EE roo
2 EE hens
1 silkie roo
1 polish hen
1 porcelain D'uccle
2 Cuckoo marans
1 SLRW
2 OEG x Silkies that we call the Frankenchickens

Chicks:
Black cochins
White cochins
Blue cochins
Ameraucanas
Crevecouers
2 Dark brahmas
3 Speckled sussex
3 silkies of dubious gender
3 silkie x Polish babies
Several Ameraucana x EE crosses
Seramas in the bator
1 D'uccle x ?? in the bator

And i've probably forgotten some.

I guess i'm trying to find my niche. I'm trying on chickens to find which ones I like the most and want to focus on

I don't know what my problem is. I feel like it's Pokemon, and i've gotta have em all!

Eventually when some of them die off, i'll focus on a few of breeds. I'm thinking it'll be Ameraucanas or EEs, Cochins, Polish and Seramas (if I can get any to hatch). I'm really not having good luck with polish though, so they may be off the list.
