What Should You Have Been?

A firefighter. I was in the academy when 9-11 hit. I broke both my ankles a few weeks after that... and to make a long story short, I found out I have degenerative disk disease and the doc wouldn't clear me to go back to the academy.

They offered me a job as a fire inspector, but my ego was too big for at at the time. What an idiot I was...

I took an aptitude test 20 years ago that said I should be a bus driver or a veterinarian. That's how confusing I am!

I should have been an artist and a farmer.

I am a certified dental assistant now but I really think I should have been a teacher.

I am actually enrolled to go back to college this fall for elementary education but with the prices of everything going up I am going to have to unenroll because we just can't afford it and can't afford to give up my income. My husband owns and operates his own semi and the fuel is killing us!

It just isn't my time yet.

I’ve been watching this thread, it is very interesting. I have a content life, I love every part of it but if I had to change, I think I’d become my great great great grandfather who settled in Ohio from Germany. Imagine how simply amazing his life was, although it would not have been easy, I would have loved being him. The adventure of moving here, clearing the land, farming, raising livestock, finding a wife, raising kids, praising God and dying and enjoying a well deserved rest.
Peace,
Dave

Hey Bren, I've got a Master's degree, and now I'm back in school to become a science teacher - much needed they say - but it it so expensive and time consuming I might have to drop out, too. If we really have a teacher shortage, someone needs to do something about this!

And Dave, that would have been a very difficult but rewarding life.

I think I should have been several things....vet, teacher, farmer, archeologist. I thought about the vet, but am crappy in math and chemestry, I didn't think about being a teacher until I got older, same with being a farmer. And I've always loved archeology. Instead, I landed myself in the USAF for 8 years as a cop/K-9 handler, got married, had a kid, got divorced, and met my wonderful DH and his 'farming family'....so I guess I'm getting close to one of my 'shoulda been's'! I think sometimes I should have been an actress....

And the DH should have been a professional chef!!
