What Size Block for Tennessee Waltz Quilt? **Completed!**

Actually, Barbara, that one is my personal favorite of what I have available. One of the stars is made from that fabric, too.

ETA: I decided on that dark blue one and have cut out the strips. Will attach tomorrow. It really looked the best of what I had here.

The top is finished. My DH proceeded to point out the places that corners don't meet perfectly--maybe he'd like to try it.

I measured each block to make sure it was 9.5", however, I know that my eyesight is causing me lots of grief and I blame that for all measurement mistakes. I'm also doing it in bad light so there is glare I'm constantly fighting. Even with all the mistakes, which make it worse for me if I try to correct them, I think the overall look is really cool! After all, handmade quilts have character, right? The dark blue print really pulls it all together, I think, but I don't have enough to make binding and certainly not the backing so will have to see what I can figure out for the remaining components. I have to make my neice a quilt, but after that, I think I'll do another Tennessee Waltz, this time with the 12" blocks.

Another beauty Cynthia..and tell dh it is your ancestoral heritage to NOT have a perfect quilt..those off points were planned..it adds character!!..actually I don't see them. Love the blues.

Well, thank you, Sandi. They are off, but I just don't have it in me to rip it all out and start over. That's what is so great about quilts-they are very forgiving. They don't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

when I seea quilt that is perfect in all ways, it looks to fake or professionally done, so imperfections are what makes it a hand-made quilt that is treasured.

it's beautiful Cynthia

Thank you, Barbara. You know, even the commercially produced quilts aren't perfect; in fact, I really don't like the work on those or the fabric quality most of the time. I used much of the fabric you sent me in this as well as some that Katherine sent as samples from Thousandsofbolts. I really like this pattern. When I eventually do the 12" blocks, I'm going to do a completely different color scheme.

When I saw this post, it made me take mine out and work on it. I have all the blocks done and I am working on putting it together. I am making a queen so I still have 4 rows to sew together. Thanks for the inspiration Speckledhen.

You girls do such awesome work, you are such artists!

The perfection of a quilt is that it isnt perfect. Each has its own personality. I love em!!!
