What size brooder?

We have 14 2 wk old chicks. They are sooo big already! Flying around a 3x3 cage. We put 2 roosts in and they already are using it. They are very frisky during the day. Do they need more space until they go out to the coop? Are they too confined? Help?

Yes they are too confined and yes they need more room. Those danged juveniles are very playful!!!!!

I know what you mean! They're so full of energy.
I only have 4 girls and they are itching for more space. We have outgrown 2 brooders already. Luckily my father in law is very handy. He built us a great brooder that is 2x3 and it used to seem huge. Not anymore!
They "cheep" to be let out to roam around our living room now. We did that once and now they've come to expect it. As soon as we bring them out, they fly and jump around. It's so cute to watch them stretch their wings. I try to let them out a bit each day, then its back in the box.
I can't wait for them to have the freedom to roam outside. They will just love it.

If you have 14 chicks - build your brooder as big as you possibly can. These babies grow FAST!
