the problem with having an assortment of breeds is trying to figure out which hen lays which egg. I get some Large eggs and they seem to be a little watery and often the yolk will break when dropped in the pan. just laid yesterday so I know it is fresh. I have 2 Brahamas, 3Sussex 2, Orpintons and 4 EE that are laying, the EE are easy, pretty green, I get some smallish light brown, some large light brown, and some large, little bit darker brown. Any one know which egg belongs to which hen? And why does the yolk break on a fresh egg, they free range, have access to free choice oyster shell and free choice feed?

Well, Brahmas, and Sussex are suspose to lay Medium size eggs... I'd check our breed section for egg size, and color.

I have 2 lt brahmas that lay a lg med. brown egg..I have 4 spSussex that lay smaller med.brown eggs (lighter than the brahmas)..all just started laying this Spring..hope this helps!!

Mine lays a medium pinkish brown egg. It is the egg at the top center of the picture.
