My next question.....!
Our Khaki Campbell was sitting on her eggs in a nest that was in the corner of the barn.
I moved her, nest and eggs into a 'nesting box' that Hubby made for our Silkie Hen.
Now I'm not too sure if it's big enough for her and her now 9+ eggs.
It's 4' deep and 3' wide.
She is very happy in there, hissing and spitting at me when ever I go to take her a yummy treat.
I just worry that she may have problems turning the eggs without stepping on them?
Is it likely that she could break the eggs?
The nesting box has an open doorway and is inside a large stable, which has the door open so she can free range if she wants.
Do you think I should move the nest and eggs out from the box and just leave her and the eggs amongst the straw in the stable?
I also worry that it will be too small when hatching starts?
The box seemed big when the Silkie hen and her 4 chicks were in it....and it looks plenty big enough with the duck in there, but that's just with her sitting in there...not trying to move the eggs around.
It seemed a good idea at the time to give her a dark secret safe place.....now I'm not sure if she would be better out of it???
