What snacks DON'T or chickens like???

My guys love bread and most fruit and veggies. Favorites are apples, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and any white or light wheat bread. Most of them like scrambled eggs, but not all of them like boiled egg. They don't like really dark bread like pumpernickel or broccoli. Some of them love bananas while some will take a taste then rub their beaks like it is the worst thing they have ever tasted. I guess chickens are a little like us, taste varies between each individual.

My chickens eat almost every thing. Not a big fan of lettuce, but they love kale. They especially love scratch, which is like chicken candy. I give them table scraps, like bread, beans, rice, and leftover meat. They also love cheese

Here also, always save the strawberry tops and mix them in with the other scraps, they will eat everything and leave the tops behind! Spoiled rotten they are! They do love melon rinds and especially with the seeds you would scoop out and throw away, love a half melon rind with the seeds, any melon will do. There's not much left when they're done. Also dry out my egg shells and crunch them up and mix with their feed, they love that and are "unrecognizable" to them as actual eggs so as not to make them carnivores, gives them extra calcium for good strong shells (in place of oyster shells which cost $$$.) So many great tips on here, especially for winter, we want to keep our girls happy 'til spring rolls around!

Amazing isn't it, how each flock here has its own little quirks. Lettuce is loved by ours, the ducks won't touch it but love peas. Our chickens will not go near cabbage or kale or even romaine lettuce. Very particular, even tho they have been exposed to it all, they have always picked what they want and leave the rest. Funny girls, they know what they want!
