I finally got around to ordering one of those little balls that you put treats in, and the chickens are suppose to play nice, and kick it around, and enjoy the treats. They did the first day, but today it became the fighting ball. Now my girls do get into little spats, but today was full blown war. I had to go out, and throw down some more treats before they killed each other, no lie. I guess from now on if they play with that thing it will be for amusement only, because I wont be putting anymore treats in the dang thing. If you want to try it, it may be ok for your girls, but I would keep a close eye on them.
I'm glad you mentioned popped popcorn. At my husbands work they have popcorn available all day for the employees and customers. At the end of the day they throw away what is left. He asked me if the chickens would eat it, and I wondered about the kernal and if it would bother them. So bottom line the question ifs: Is it OK to give them popped popcorn or could it be harmful to them? Thanks!!!!! :/
Call me a bad parent but I always sneak in vegetable scraps they don't like inside a bowl of oatmeal which they love! But besides that they love berries, when in season its blueberries, elderberries, cherries, raspberries. But boy they love watermelon also. And certain time in seasons i take them for walks where raspberries are in fruit or to left over wheat from wheat field, it's a lot of work dragging them home though lol.
