What species of poultry do you keep?

I have 11 chickens: the hens are 2 seramas, a columbian rock, an easter egger, a gold laced polish, a gold campine, and a blue laced red wyandotte. I have 4 buff laced polish chicks that we don't know the sex of yet. Breezy Bird farms in Manitoba, Canada shipped my dozen button quail eggs earlier this week. Hoping they arrive tomorrow.

If you actually mean species, then I keep just chickens.

If you actually mean breed, then I keep a ton of different breeds, including Cochins, Orpingtons, d'Uccle, Polish, Sussex, and more.

A breed is very different from a species. The species of the bird would be a chicken, while the breed would denote the specific type of chicken that it is, such as a Cochin. Each breed is bred for a specific purpose and has a unique appearance.

Yes, I'm very aware of the difference between species and breed.

Species and breed are often confused by many folks. It reminds me of the time I was asked at the farm store if I REALLY wanted a bale of straw because, as the nice man noted, many people don't know the difference between straw and hay. I was initially a little ticked but realized he was just trying to be helpful.

Regarding poultry, I have: two American Buff geese; six Runner ducks; and too many chickens.

The adults are 1 Prairie Bluebell Egger, 2 Salmon Faverolles, 2 Easter Eggers, 2 Calico Princesses, 2 Sapphire Splashes, 1 Midnight Majesty Marans, 1 Sapphire Olive Egger, 3 Cochins (2 Partridge and 1 Buff), 2 Iowa Blues, 1 Blue Cochin Bantam rooster and 1 each Columbian Wyandotte, Speckled Sussex, Bielefelder and Buckeye.

Seven new additions as of July 1 are, a Blue Cochin, Silver Laced Cochin, Rose Comb Brown Leghorn, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Cuckoo Marans and two Ameracaunas -- one of which was an unexpected cockerel. Well, at least he keeps an eye on his girls.
