looks kind of like a South Carolina banana spider. Not poisonous but they have a painful bite. They used to make webs across our four wheeler paths in the woods and man they'll freak you out riding into one!

We have one on our back porch this year. Sadly, they drop off when the weather gets chilly. I've read they don't have the best eyesight, and are supposed to be gentle enough you can hand feed them.. but because of the eyesight they can accidentally nip you. I love seeing them every year.

I do too. Every year one builds a web on the carport right in front of my car door! After getting a face full of web I move it to a better spot. Little rascals.

being a little bit arachnophobic, i almost wet myself when i was picking up the last tomatoes and peppers and suddenly saw that huge spider right in front of my face:

Does anybody know what kind of spider that is? - And can it bite through human skin?

Yes, isn't it? This girl now works at a reptile garden in the PNW. She loves snakes and other creepy crawlies and it's funny because she is drop-dead gorgeous, like Loni Anderson pretty!
