I say it depends on who you are asking. If you go by the manual of vehicles now days most will tell you 5,000 - 7,500 for service depending on the make and model, and sometimes adjusted to conditions you drive in. My truck has a sensor just for oil change (not a full service). The manual says to change the oil when the sensor goes off or 1 year whichever comes first. I have let it go until the sensor goes off just to see what it would be and it is always around 9,000 miles.

It also makes a difference depending on if you use synthetic oil or not.

I work on a heck of a lot of things, but I don't prefer to work on my vehicles most times, I have and will at times. I just don't care much for grease and oil, so I usually will gladly pay someone a little to do that. So, I am certainly not a nerd on it.

I am also a stickler on idiot sheets and manuals. I usually feel the peeps who made it know more about what the thing needs, and when it needs it.
