I’m a crop science student so I can explain CAM photosynthesis in detail without knowing how to take care of cactus and succulents. Even without knowing how though I do a good job, I have a nice window sill collection that I water weekly…

Most plants photosynthesis during the day and respire 24/7 but CAM plants only respire during the cool night so they don’t lose so much water while their stomata (pores) are open.
They store CO2 (and release oxygen) through the night then use the CO2 for photosynthesis during the day.
