Pink and similar products do not work well on silkies--they slick the feathers down.
You can put a tiny amount of glycerin in the water or spritz them with preen oil (from the bird section of the pet store) or best, use parrot shampoo.
Hmmm, how about a volumizing mousse that also adds shine? Think that would work?
BTW, I prefer to spray with Adams as I coop them in (or even before I box them to leave home) rather than after the show when they may have already acquired buggies. Better to prevent than cure.
I do as much prep beforehand as possible, but it seems like there is never enough time. And then there is always the bird who makes a mess of him/herself just before judging.
