What Suplies Do YOU Take to a Show

Pink and similar products do not work well on silkies--they slick the feathers down.

You can put a tiny amount of glycerin in the water or spritz them with preen oil (from the bird section of the pet store) or best, use parrot shampoo.

Hmmm, how about a volumizing mousse that also adds shine? Think that would work?

BTW, I prefer to spray with Adams as I coop them in (or even before I box them to leave home) rather than after the show when they may have already acquired buggies. Better to prevent than cure.

I do as much prep beforehand as possible, but it seems like there is never enough time. And then there is always the bird who makes a mess of him/herself just before judging.

No, Silkies do not need Pink or any other sheen, because their feather are not supposed to shine, and it could mat them.

Most preparation should be done at home, especially bathing and trimming nails/beak. Some of it should be left to do at the show to give the bird that "fresh clean" look. Also, there is always at least one bird that manages to get wet/dirty/ruffled before the show starts, so that would need to be taken care of at the show.
