Okay, here is my show kit list (updated with ideas I got from you all
)
- NPIP form copy
- Feed
- Water jug or watering can
- Water cups (mark name on bottom)
- Small plastic cups to hold baby oil and/or the water
- Extra shavings
- Blow Dryer
- Toothbrush
- Paper towels
- Scraps of flannel cloth (to rub in the sheen spray)
- A silk cloth to get the birds shiny and dust-free
- Q-Tips or small paint brush to use for comb
- Alcohol pads (for antiseptic purposes, and to remove excess oil on feathers)
- Baby wipes to remove any last minute stains
- Green Spot (horse cleaning spray that works great on white birds)
- Corn Starch (stain remover - wipe stain with baby wipes, cover stain with paste of water and cornstarch, blow dry, brush off with tooth brush, brush on dry corn starch to "brighten up" where stain was)
- Spray water bottle
- Pink Spray, Show Sheen, or Olive Oil (used for same purpose as Pink Spray. Only purchase in hair care area)
- Baby Oil, VetRX, or Vaseline (put a little around eyes and beak to make them shine, and provide a calming aroma therapy)
- Tea tree oil for legs
- Spray bottle of oxine solution or a dropper bottle with diluted Oxine (put a drop or two into water to prevent illness)
- Antibiotic ointment
- Antibiotic and vitamin/electrolyte powders (put in their waterers a week before a show)
- Adams Flea and Tick (give a quick spray around the vent when cooping out and spray the legs and feet)
- Blood stop
- Dog nail clippers (for beaks and nails)
- Nail file (to file down after trimming, also for smoothing beak cracks)
- Extra numbered leg bands (dif. shapes, sizes, colors)
- Zip ties/ Cage locks/ Bungee cords
- Judge's retractable stick (use at home to train and run it along your cages at shows when judge gets close)
- Tub of mealworms or treats (a proven show reward for the birds)
- Chair or stool (makes it easier to prep the birds if you can sit down)
- Clear acetate and bulldog clips (to put between your cages and another birds to prevent fighting)
