ok, pardon my tons of questions here, but we haven't shown yet and won't until Feb, but this thread brought a lot of questions to mind.
1. What do you guys prefer between baby oil, vetrx, and olive oil? and why?
2. Why use tea tree oil for the legs?
3. What is oxine and where do you get it?
4. where do you find the antibiotic and vitamin/electrolyte powder? Do you still need it if using oxine (sounds like an antibiotic)?
5. should we be putting leg bands on just before the show or is there a certain age?
6. Do judges get upset about cage locks etc?
7. where do you get a retractable judging stick? (grace I'd like to see you in action when is your next show?)
8. How does tape and bulldog clips prevent fighting?
Grace thanks for starting a more interactive thread on show prep. I've bookmarked pathfinders info, but when everyone starts posting questions come to mind.

I use baby oil or vet rx on the comb and face to make them look shiney and bright.
I use tea tree oil on the legs as it is a natural bug repellant and will repel any buggies that may try to hitch a ride on your bird
Oxine is a disinfectant that can be put in the water, sprayed on surfaces to kill viruses, bacteria, germs, etc. If you google it, you can find it for sale at alot of places and you do not need the activator stuff.
Your birds should be a minimum of at least five months old to show. If you buy the correct size leg band you should be able to put the bands on before the show.
You will want to remove cage locks or zip ties from your bird's cage before judging begins and lock them up after they are done. You can get DQ'd if the judge cannot get into your cage to examine your bird.
I would add a comb (I prefer a fine-toothed metal one I purchased at a dog show), cat litter scooper (to clean out messes in the cage), a hair dryer dry feathers after last-minute cleanups, small scissors and/or tweezers, pink hair tape to tie up crests, extra leg bands, bottles of water (for me), notepad and pen/pencil, blank copy of breed club show report (to fill out and turn in to the breed club), business cards to hand out to people who express an interest in your birds, or merely have questions about the breed or chickens in general.
Tea tree oil is VERY toxic to birds. I would never use it on any bird, no matter how dilute.
Oxine is a disinfectant, a very good one, but there are others that can be used on/around birds (generally not in their drinking water, however).
Clear acetate (plastic) can be placed as a barrier between adjoining cages to prevent birds from making contact with each other when/if they decide to fight with their next cage neighbor. Tape or clips hold the barrier in place.
