what tastes bad to chickens

I think it depends on the chickens. Mine don't like bananas, but they will eat anything spicy if I let them. They also drink the vinegar and garlic in their water and they eat onions.

I think it is a trial and error thing. The unbreakable eggs sound like a good idea. And the pine tar...though I still have yet to figure out how to get that stuff to stay soft long enough.

Mrs.Puff :

Hot sauce might work. I've heard that you should put wooden/ceramic eggs in there, so then they'll peck and peck and nothing comes out.

I feed my chickens dry hot red peppers for treats. I also add cayenne pepper to their oatmeal to make the combs red and help deter worms. Heat does not affect them in the least bit they love it. If you use hot sauce you will probably make matters worse. Honestly my chickens will eat anything I give them. And they love dandelions which are very bitter. I would think a ceramic egg would work though after time they would give up. Might want to give them something to play with or start adding treats daily. Maybe they have run out of bugs this time of year and are looking for the extra protein.
