What the H E double L L is going on with my hen? It was fine yesterday and this evening this... help me please

Can chicken have benadryl?
Do you see any sign of a wound/sting/stinger/puncture?
Possible snake bite?
I am just throwing my thoughts out.
My initial thought was copperhead bite, second thought was bee/wasp, but still leaning towards snake.

She has pus in her eye and mucous in her nostrils. Is the other eye swollen too?
Is there a bad odor? Any pus, canker or mucous inside the beak?
Flush the eye with saline, press on the eye and get as much pus out as you can. Apply an eye ointment like Terramycin or you can use plain Neosporin in the eye.
Wipe away the mucous from her nostrils. Look in the roof of her beak - is there anything stuck in there?

A common cause of symptoms you are seeing is respiratory disease. Have you had any birds that were sick in the past? Infectious Coryza if it's a bad odor comes to mind. Mycoplasma is a possibility as well. A lot depends on the cause - Infectious Coryza symptoms can be treated with Sulfa antibiotics and Mycoplasma symptoms can be treated with Tylosin.

Do you notice any bad odor from the face? Is the hen gasping for air or having labored breathing? You can try giving 1/2 of a 25 mg Benadryl tablet once to see if it helps reduce any swelling. Have you seen any sneezing, coughing, nasal or eye drainage?
