WHAT THE HECK AM I HATCHING?NEW PIC!

These are Rouen eggs DD hatched out. The C1 and C2 are labled that way because they had cracks that we didn't fix, and they were so big, that we didn't think they would hatch, but did.

My hat's off to you for the sucessful rescue, I'd have done the same thing. Sometimes I wish I could raise a crow or a blue jay with my kids. I know a guy who got his start in wildlife conservation as a kid doing that and now he's an elderly gentleman breeding an endangered falcon species from Guatemala (with the objective of reintroducing them to the wild) and gyrefalcons. We sucessfully keep bluebird and kestrel boxes here on our farm, but that's just not the same as hand raising.

Heck yes. Why, if you make nests for Purple Martins, and they no longer nest in nature but only in man made nests, you are legally not allowed to put 1/2 teas. of sevin dust in their nests to keep them from getting lice.

Of course I do anyway.

But you are not supposed to because it is interferring with nature or something.

Nevermind that the birds are much more comfy if you do it.

Of course I haven't been succesful in attracting them yet so I guess I can sleep at night.
