What the heck is this???

this is the second time i have found this in my coop. what is it?? i have 2 bantams who are consistently laying, a ISA brown who suddenly stopped laying summer of 2019, and a RHW who usually lays consistently but hasn’t been laying consistently lately. so yeah... what is this??? it’s gross and freaking me out.

That appears to be lash egg material, which is usually laid outside or internally laid into the abdomen, and is a result of infection and inflammation of the oviduct (salpingitis.) Here is some reading about it:

thanks so much!! what can i do about it? is there treatment? how do i know which of my hens layed it? could it have been my one ISA hen who hasn’t layed in almost a year? her butt is pretty caked with poo.
 
The ISA might be one to watch. I would get her vent cleaned up, and you could make sure that she is eating and drinking okay. Antibiotics sometimes are used to treat salpingitis, but they may or may not have any effects. It can be a cause of premature death, unfortunately.

i’m planning on taking her to the vet tomorrow.
