What the heck!!! RASH!

It's probably due to an allergy of some sort, but it'd be a good idea to get it checked just in case. Staph can cause a similar rash that but you'd think if it was that widespread there'd be flu-like symptoms. I hope you get some relief!

I have had one horrible allergic reaction that left me covered in a rash from head to toe, literally. It was about 6 years ago and required shots and oral meds (steriods) to clear up. I never figured out what caused it and it's never happened again.

The meds will help with the itching, so you might make an appt just for that reason alone.

I am a nurse and yes, food allergies just pop up. You can eat the same thing 1000 times and the 1001 time you have an allergic reaction. Very common! BUT, the more often you expose yourself to it now that you have an allergy, the more severe your reactions will become. It really is important to see a doctor to figure out what you are allergic to. And if you have had the "flu".... could be a strange reaction to the virus or it could be a strep rash. There are LOTS of possibilities. But having a rash on your face and neck is NOT normal and you need to see a doctor!

A friend of mine just came down with the mumps for her 39th birthday.
Swollen face and rash.

She is also allergic to strawberries, not that that has anything to do with it....

The rash right on the heels of you having the flu would make me want to have it looked into. Strep came to my mind, too. Have you already had valley fever, or been exposed to any fleas or other insects? The pain part of the rash would make me think something other than an allergy...that, and the fact that benedryl didn't help.

Don't think I've ever had valley fever.

It's possible that my cats may have one or two fleas. But I hold them all day every day, and never had a problem before.

So I had two waffles, another Benadryl, and an Ibuprofen, did the dishes, folded the laundry and now sat down and it seems worse.

Looks like bf will have to take me to the Drs when he gets home.

Most people in the southwest for any time have had valley fever & just never knew it (and will then test positive for it), but sometimes it's arrival is not so quiet. The rash is usually a bit different, though, I think.

A family member came down with it after having flu like symptoms then a rash...that's one of the reasons why it came to mind. I hope you can get to the bottom of it and that you feel much better very soon.

I've tried benadryl lotion, an anti-itch lotion from the dr, calamine lotion, regular lotion, and now neosporin, nothing seems to help much.

Odd thought............but you might want to check your other pets.

I know some one who took their dog to a doggie day care, it came home with some kind of mite that then bit up her family too. It took a while for them to realize what had happened and get everyone treated.
