I know, I was specifically asked how high my chick starter was. In my post where I said what I feed them I said I supplement mealworms. If you add mealworms, then you're feeding higher protein than 20%.
I've had as many as 10 and as few as a pair together, not all 10 fought eachother but 1 or 2 would always be fighting with the others, even when only a pair, at first they got along but later one would 'turn' on the other.how many males?
I do.
well.. in 2 years there has not been one incident of male pairs fighting.... It sounds like you waited to long to separate and pair... Also, 10 would always fight because each pair would fighting with the other.I've had as many as 10 and as few as a pair together, not all 10 fought eachother but 1 or 2 would always be fighting with the others, even when only a pair, at first they got along but later one would 'turn' on the other.
yes, but mine are NOT CALM! I have handled them since chicks, and the are Terrified of me! The also run around my 50 gallon ALL DAY!Do you get all your quail from the same source? It's possible you have a super calm strain.
It's possible your female doesn't lay because she is stressed.yes, but mine are NOT CALM! I have handled them since chicks, and the are Terrified of me! The also run around my 50 gallon ALL DAY!
maybe, but my other bird lays almost every day. It's possible your female doesn't lay because she is stressed.
I'll say it again, but as long as they are PAIRED CORRECTLY, they are fine... 2 birds! Actually they are Extremely aggressive with birds they are not paired with. That's not what I mean. Them being active, and appropriately frightened of the massive potential predator, isn't them not being calm.
I mean it's possible you have a much less aggressive strain than everyone else does, if you really do have multiple males together that aren't fighting.
