I got these eggs from a guy near me. He said that they were Auraucana eggs....But I knew that they were just EE's....I wanted EE's anyhow....I just figured he didnt know what he was talking about or that he just calls them Auraucanas like some other people do.
Anyhow..... I think he sold me bad or old eggs cause I got 24 eggs and only 2 (yes let me say it again) Only 2 hatched!!!! I have never, never had that happen!
And then.....out of the 2 that hatched one looks like this (look below) It is solid buff colored except for a couple little black specks and it has orange legs!
He has sex links and barred rocks also but they were suposed to be seperated... Do you think that one got mixed in? Or what? The egg I hatched from was a bluish egg.
First they were not what he said they were(auraucana) and then the eggs had to be old and then I get some weird chick. What!

It could still be an easter egger. I had one hatch that looked a lot like like yours, down to the leg color. She was buff, with a very slight hint of stripes down her back. At a week and a half old, she looked like this:

And now, at nearly 7 weeks old, she looks like this (red-and-white bird in the center left):

She's got a muff and beard coming in like many easter eggers generally do.

I have an ee that looked just like that after it hatched I think they can look like just about anything and they can have yellow legs

If she is a she, most likely will lay green eggs which= EE. If he just recently seperated them, he might have started saving eggs too soon and assumed they were pure. Hopefully you got the eggs cheap:)What happened with your other eggs, no development or what?

Some of the other eggs had no developement and the rest started and then stopped early on...I cracked them open and it was just a big yolk and a small little chick or just a yucky mess. I have never had this happen and I hatch all the time. A friend of mine also got eggs from him and NONE of hers hatched and I know another lady that got eggs from hom and NONE of hers hatched either!!!
The eggs were cheap (thank goodness) only $3 a dozen.....but its the point...I turned these eggs for 21 days for 2 chicks... Crazy!

she/he is super adorable... but that stinks that more didn't hatch... was he selling them to hatch or selling them for eating? Maybe he thought you wanted to eat them? Maybe he refrigerated them... because that's about the success rate of the lady and her daughter who did the Trader Joes experiment... (I'm assuming you don't refridgerate hatching eggs... i honestly haven't a clue)

I have NO clue on breed, but what a cutie!!! Sorry about your bad hatch.

Was this for shipped eggs or did you pick them up?

He sold them to me as hatching eggs...I dont know if they had been refridgerated or not but I have hatched from the fridge.... I picked the eggs up...they were not shipped.

Wugh...for picking them up, I'd expect wayyyy better odds than that as long as they were not old and fertility was good. *sigh* I'm sorry!

Thank goodness you got two that hatched, instead of only one. One little chick would have been awful lonely.

You should let this person know that his eggs are not hatching - he may not realize this and may need to be educated on how long before eggs are too old, how to store, etc.
