what time do your chickens get up?

Mine tend to wake up around 3 or 3:30, crow for a while, then apparently go back to sleep or contemplate their navels or whatever chickens do in the dark until the sky starts to lighten, then the crowing resumes.

I don't usually get out to let them outside til 8 or later, but they have enough room indoors I figure it's not the end of the world.

Rekindling an old post, I have 7 hens and while they turn in at dusk to hen house they are usually out and about an hour or so before sunrise. Sometimes even earlier. Is this normal? I mean it's pitch black and they kind of wander around the run. I'll turn on the light to the run to check on them and they'll run around while the light is on? The coop to run access is always open and I don't have many predators to worry about and the run is built like Fort Knox. Just curious? Thanks in advance

I have no idea what time my chickens wake up. They can go in and out of the coop to the secured run whenever, so we never have to wake up early to let them out. I usually give them a mid morning hot oatmeal treat around 10 AM after they all done laying.

We just had a day light saving time adjustment last week, sprint the clock forward by an hour. I woke up at the new time at 5:30 AM because we had to go somewhere. It was pitch black outside, but my son had left the porch light on overnight by accident. I turned off the porch light, then shined a flash light at the coop, saw some hens were already munching away at the feeder, but now they couldn't see anything so they just froze on the spot. LOL!
