What time of day do the lay?

All of mine are fairly new layers, 6 weeks or less, and initially the first couple weeks it was pretty sporadic as to time of day but predominantly the first half of the day. Now they seem to be more regular and earlier in the day. Today, for example, 4/5 laid....first three in quick succession by 9am, then the last egg about 11am ( she is also my newest layer by about a week). I have six hens, 2 BO's, 1 BR, 2 EE's, and 1 white leghorn/RIR mutt.

Mine lay sort of in the middle of the day, like 1 to 4. then sometimes we'll have the rare occasion where we wake up and theres an egg in the nest!

Mine don't like getting up early. I rarely have an egg before 9 am. Most of mine lay in the afternoon but my Welsummers like to lay between 8 and 9 at night.

Only 2 of my 5 lay right now. They started laying last week so they are new layers. One lays between 8 and 10 in the morning and one lays between 4 and 6 in the evening.

Mine lay throughout the day. From dawn to dusk. On average about 1/3 before 9am, 1/3 before 2pm, and the other 1/3 finish up right before dark (which is 5-5:30pm right now)

I have some that will lay eggs in the early morning hours, some mid-morning, some early afternoon, some in the late afternoon, and some in the early evenings. But I have 40 hens too.

I only check the coop twice a day tho'. I only know they lay like this 'cuz I used to be so obsessed with their laying that I'd practically be out there all day long checking on them!

I have 8 laying hens now, and they usually start mid-morning and go until early afternoon.

We've only got one laying right now. Her first egg she laid first thing in the morning. The second one came at dusk two days later. I'm guessing we'll have a third this evening or first thing tomorrow morning.

Hi, majority of my pullets lay around 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning. I do have some afternoon layers also, so it all depends on the birds.
