I have 2 bantam mottled cochin roos that grew up together and get along famously. They are in a coop with just 1 small standard hen...a white Langshan that doesn't lay anymore. They don't even try to breed her but they do protect her and call her for food when out in the courtyard.

When we turn everyone out into the courtyard together, the roos are in with 12 18 week old standard sized pullets...RIR, BR, light Brahma, etc...AND 2 silkie roos and their hen. (One of them is most certainly either gay or metrosexual and respects the hen's rights...he never even tries to breed and rarely crows)

They all get along with no problems but the bantam cochin roos cannot breed the standard pullets...at least at this point. I really don't see them "helping out" in anyway.

Short bottom line: I'd put him in with his own girls. He may or may not breed them, but he'll be a great protector and feel like a "man among women".

At this point, unless a friend of mine who has banty Cochins wants him for her flock, I will probably do just that. Thanks for all the input!

You know my vote--he gets his own harem!

I think you have the potential to have some REALLY CUTE offspring--beards, muffs, some foot feathering, and the potential for some gorgeous coloring!

Well, I don't have any advice for you, but I do have a weird coincidence- I also have one named Panda and she looks alot like yours! Too funny. I named her that when she was a fuzzy butt. My Panda is a Dominique and is the leader of the flock for sure.

He looks really sweet! Keep him with his own ladies - but if you need to find a home for him I bet I could make space for him with my bantam cochins!!

Awesome! just what everybody wanted you to do..What could be better than Bantam cochin Blue EEs? I'll take some eggs! Bantams don't eat or drink much and need very little space..I keep at least 10 around all the time, just to look at, they are so cute! Post pics of his new harem and I want to see that firehouse coop!
