what to do about these 1" gaps in the coop eaves?

After putting the roof on the coop, we found we have a 1" gap pretty much all the way around the eaves. Is this going to be an issue with predators or can I leave it uncovered? The coop sits 2 feet off the ground on 4x4s. It just seems like such a tedious task to cut and mount wire all around the 2x4 framing. *groan*

If you don't need that gap for ventilation I would just cut a 1x4 to fit in between the roof joists and cover it with the that.

Yeah we have sufficient ventilation already. If I chose to let it uncovered though do you think a raccoon or other animal could utilize this space as a weak point?

We had the same issue, but my concern was bats. Yep, bats. So we stuffed it with hardware cloth and this winter we were so glad we did. We had the extra ventilation which it turns out was nice to have up that high, and no bats last summer or this spring.

Wow bats! I always forget they exist until I see them flying around our property in the summer evenings.
