Hello. I am new to chickens. We got 3 young serama hens and a rooster back in December, and have had a really good experience with them. The problem is that all 3 hens went broody at the same time, and were "tag teaming" both with laying eggs and sitting on the nest. They started with only 1 egg and ended up with 10 eggs a few days later. Eventually, the first chick hatched. I believe we only saw him about 2 days after hatching as he was all perky and fluffed up. All 3 hens were taking good care of them. Over the next few days, 3 more chicks hatched, but we found them dead each time, leading us to believe that they were being aggressive. We decided to bring the remaining eggs inside to an incubator. 1 hatched right away, and has been inside under heat lamp. I don't think the remaining eggs are good. I have candled them, and although I see the air pocket and dark black areas, I don't see any movement. My question is what do I do with the single chick now? Should I introduce to the group outside? What's the best way to do this. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What day are the eggs on they could be just resting up for the hatch or if they were layed while the hen was sitting they could be two or three days off and will not hatch on the same day I have a broody hen that had three eggs and two of them died so she only got one chick and they are doing just fine the hen will teach her every thing mine is already dust bathing and roosting she is only three weeks old it's the cutest thing you ever seen lol they will be just fine good luck with your eggs hope they hatch soon

Happened to us too. Only one chick hatched. Since they are social creatures, I ended up going to the feed store and buying a few friends for it.
