We have 6 golden comet we bought in early april and I counted they are 30 or so weeks and have not shown any indication they are going to start laying. Their combs are pinkish red but other than that they look great and eat well. I am really about to put them to the cook pot if they don't lay soon. We got them at TSC and found out they came from Mt. Healthy Hatchery in SW ohio. My MIL had got birds from there and had the same problem with hers. Has anyone had GC start laying this late or do you think they won't lay?

Your hens might not be laying for these reasons:
-Age
-Molting
-Undiscovered nest
-Undiscovered pest
-Health
-Improper nutrition

Good luck!

Give them more time! Some girls just mature faster than others. My girls never started laying until after their combs and wattles were large and bright red. I still have an Ameracauna that hasn't started laying. And honestly, with winter coming, she may not start until spring. The way I see it, that just means she will be laying longer than the other girls. No reason to punish a late bloomer. =)
