What to do with a brooding turkey in an emergency.

When we found this hen's nest destroyed and the eggs scattered about the coop by the other hen turkeys we moved the hen and nest to our whirlpool bath. All seems well and candling shows that all the eggs have survived the disruption--six more days to hatch day!!

She's a midget white-we mark the hens so we can tell them apart. This is the third day in the whirlpool. All ten eggs candle as alive. This morning she started yelping everytime she saw me. knowing she had not pooed in three days we took her off the nest to a bare floor; what a mess! Six more days!

There's no reason why it shouldn't go well. The eggs are alive and the hen is devoted to her new nest. It helps that the hen is a pet and extremely tame and trusting.

The eggs have begun to internally pip. The hen took the move with no problem. Are all turkeys so easy to move when brooding? This will be my first turkey hatching.

I can't speak for all turkeys, but I moved my first two broody turkeys without issue when we had a problem with a rat stealing their eggs. I moved their nests into large dog crates in a new area and shut the doors, only letting them out for potty breaks a couple times the first few days to hedge my bets, but they acted like it wasn't a big deal.
