What to do with all my eggs??

I always feel bad when I read about people throwing eggs away for any reason--they were a day late in collecting or found them in an out of the way nest or just have too many--there are a lot of people in this country that could use a good source of protein and the thought of eggs going to waste is tragic. If you can't sell them or give them away to family and close friends please find a food bank that will take them. We waste enough food in this country to let perfectly good, farm fresh eggs be tossed in the garbage.

BTW, Why don't you eat them? Unless you have allergies to eggs there is not better protein source, especially for young children whose brains and nervous systems are developing.

I AGREE 100 percent. The only reason i do not eat them is because i hate the taste of eggs lol.

What I don't keep I give to our employee who in turn passes some along to two other family members . My little flock easily keeps 4 households supplied with eggs and I like knowing my girls are helping those families out in a small way.

I agree with Wood. Give them away. I'm sure if you took them to your local foodbank, they could find plenty of families that would use them. If you don't have one near you, contact any church and they will find families that will put them to good use.

I recently emailed my local food bank to see if they could take farm eggs--not only can they take them they were thrilled that I would be willing to donate them.

Throw your eggs away??? There are probably a dozen families on your street that would LOVE some fresh eggs!
So...your neighbors,
your local food bank/red cross,
local relatives
coworkers
friends
bake them
give them back to chickens
sell them at farmers' market
sell them to local food coop--- ETA "co-op," not "coop"
put a sign on your mailbox that says "fresh eggs" once you've collected ~10 dozen or so (they keep for a while)

Hope you have luck with that!

If you don't like eggs alone, why not cook with them? Puddings, custards, pound cake, put some into casseroles/lasagna, etc. Look for recipes to use at least some of those.

As far as I'm concerned, it's near criminal to throw away good food when people not far from home go hungry.

Oh yeah, that'll totally fix THAT problem.

And I'm sure NOOOOONE of the offspring that they hatch will lay eggs...

ROFL

I cannot believe that you have chickens and you do not like to eat eggs. You can use them for baking, boil them for salads or just to feed back to your chickens. Sell them or give them to friends or neighbors. Good luck. I sooooooo love my eggs!!!

Everything they said, plus - ice cream. Mmmm, after making homemade ice cream with my fresh eggs for a few months, I got too busy for awhile and bought some at the store. Good yummy brand of ice cream, my previous favorite - it was soooo disappointing - edible but so bland. Nothin' like homemade...
