What to do with ducks with an impending hurricane?

Thank you Miss Lydia I just love them Im constantly watching over them as much as I possibly can. If I could I'd put them all on my porch that's screened but we know that will be a huge mess lol

@Ducklover77 your heart is so sweet to care about these Muscovy. I doubt there is much you can do unless you have somewhere you can put all these ducks and their ducklings. Hopefully most will ride the storm out. They are pretty good at survival. They’ve been around a long time. :hugs

Just tossing this out: if you and the ducks feel like making a road trip to NC, you can stay with us while the ducks party in our coop!

Trying to figure out how to get ready should we take a direct hit this time. My duck-house is strong built of pressure treated lumber on an 8x8 concrete pad. But can’t risk the trees coming down around it or the flooding.
Have large concrete block barn with hurricane rated doors that I must prep for the ducks. Need to figure out how to create a small pen to contain them and keep them from getting poop all over the tractor and other stuff I need to store in there too.
Any ideas?

Ever seen the dog x pens? @DuckyDonna got a couple at Walmart they would probably work at keeping the ducks contained in one area.
The Walmart’s here on the island are overrun and no room to even park lately. I have one large dog crate to use for my 3 chickens.
I will try and check out tractor supply for options. Worst case is I frame poultry fencing with wood on the barn floor.
I don’t have to worry about them flying over it like the chickens. Need something somewhat portable just in case I have to move them to even higher ground.
Will let you know how it goes.
After 30 years and many hurricanes here, the more we over prepare - they less likely we’ve been to get a direct hit.

 that would be fun I think we'd have join to duck party.

How high above sea level are you folks and is this your first hurricane in this house- the flooding is something to seriously consider- and are you sheltering in place? Be sure to secure animal food too cuz that may be a pain to be without. I wish you luck. It looks like it may go down to a cat 1 for you folks. Still darn serious but could be worse. Thoughts and prayers- :fl Let us know how you do when you can.
Sorry for the late response. For some reason notifications are not coming through. I live in high elevation, my property is considered high and dry. I will be putting my horses in the garage so I will probably make an area for the ducks inside one of the bathrooms. All my pets have plenty and food and water. We have lots of barrels we bought when hurricane Irma hit us but I didn’t have ducks then. That time I put horses I garage too. Yes I’m getting kind of fed up with hurricanes. Thank you for your thoughts.
