What to do with last hen?

My next to the last chicken died a few days ago. I am not getting any more chickens because we are moving and can’t have them. I’m afraid my last hen will become lonely and depressed. I have a friend with a small flock, but am afraid to give her to him because I have seen how chickens pick and harass newcomers, and she is so sweet and gentle. Any ideas? Which is better - live alone or try to integrate? Best way to integrate? Any other ideas? Thanks!

How old is she ? If she is an aged hen, I would let her live out her days alone rather than go through the stress of integration into a new flock.

I think the best option is to give her to your friend, if she's a younger hen and has a long life ahead.

I'd either give her to your friend, or maybe find someone on Craigslist who has half-grown chicks. She might integrate better with younger birds because she'll be the newbie, but she'll be bigger than them.

Thank you for all the thoughts. She’s only turning 4 years old this year. I think she has some good years left - very healthy. Maybe putting her with younger chicks would be good - she can be the old boss. But only if I can find someone I trust...
