It's a GREAT ride! It's like taking your sofa out for a spin

Siggy has a trot you can sit to for miles. He's my beginner lesson horse, so I've kind of trained the canter out of him...but he will canter with encouragement (strong leg aids backed up with the appearance of a lunge whip! In all seriousness...he was also broke as a driving horse, and cantering wasn't much encouraged there, either

You're not too far from me....come on up and try him out! I mean it - any time!

Ole is just getting started back under saddle after several years of having been a breeding stallion. He's broke to ride and drive, but it's been a while, so he is getting a little "refresher" course

They ride quite well!

I remember the gaited ones as well. They look like ? jolt....for the life of me, I can not remember the real word for it.

Ah!!! Those are the Icelandic ponies...and I think the word is "tolt" for their smooth, four-beat gait. My husband and I are going to Iceland in November for a week, and I'm making arrangements to visit a breeding/training facility there. I will take LOTS of pics!!!!!!!

Here's video of a cute Icelandic giving a riding lesson to a little 5 year old....I LOVE this video!!!! The pony's just trotting, but great video - love the giggles!

Here is a video of an Icelandic "tolting" at speed - they look like little typewriters!!!!!!!!

You tempt me in such a way... evil evil woman.....

I might have to come up just to see such a beautiful creature in person! I've seen some stunning horses, the budweiser clydesdales, a wild mustang herd, that arabian horse show. I remember seeing the biggest horse in the world at a circus once, but there is just something about these Fjord horses, their build, the shape of their face, that really attracts me. I'm glad I checked out this thread and got turned on to such a great breed!

Yep and they are goreous horses!

They dont have the color like the Fjords but maybe having a gaited Fjord might be good all around for beauty and gait!

there is no way a Fjord can carry me LOL!
