What to do with old hens?

We kill them by using a kill cone and cutting the jugular and letting them bleed our, or just decapitating with the knife. It really doesn't matter which method you use, as long as it's relatively quick. Killing is still killing, and the animals isn't going to like it.

Also Margolyn, it would be great if you turned the caps lock off and used a normal size font. This looks very much like shouting. Thx

YOU SHOULD NEVER ASSUME LARGE LETTERS ARE SHOUTING, IT MAY BE THAT THE PERSON WRITING THEM HAS A SIGHT PROBLEM AND IS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO READ SMALLER LETTERS.....SUGGESTION RECIEVED.

Your previous posts were in normal size, it was the difference that made me think shouting. Larger font is fine, but all caps is pretty much universally considered shouting online.
As far as the "old hens being recipes", there are several schools of thought on this board. This is simply one option for older/spent hens, and the way this thread went.

All caps online is commonly read as shouting--most people will read it this way whether or not it is your intention. Also if you are attempting to make your post easier for people to read all caps is the most difficult type setting to read in paragraphs as it is harder to distinguish the shapes of words and letters. Violet on grey is low contrast and vibrates, making it even harder to read than a smaller black and white set paragraph would have been.

If you are having trouble reading posts you can adjust the magnification on your web browser so that all posts are larger.

"Looks like this thread turned into recipe exchange"

Darned good idea - I mean, what else ya gonna do with birds that need to be culled?

So here's a question for others - for those REALLY old birds, the tough ones that simply aren't good enough even for enchiladas, what do you do with them? We cook them down for the stock, feeding the meat to the dogs (who consider it fine dining). But maybe I just don't have enough "tough old bird recipes", eh?

PS ... lage font, all caps is indeed considered 'yelling' on internet forums.
