What to do with the feed that is pecked to powder?

Making mash is great! Just remember that moldy food can kill chickens, so take it away after one day.

We had our first rain/wind storm since building our new coop. There turned out to be one spot that dripped and as luck would have it, it dripped into a small feeder with pellets.

I decided to empty it onto the ground in their covered run, rather than waste a few pounds of feed.

EVERYONE crowded in and gobbled down that damp food as fast they could grab it (while standing right next to the ignored feeders of nice fresh pellets). You'd think they hadn't eaten in a week.

Definitely mix the powder with some water and feed it out.
