What to do with this foot?

Pics
What are you soaking her feet in again? The black nail beds and striped, discolored toes look like nail fungus to me (my grandma's toe looked kinda like that :sick) Soaking in vinegar seems to be helpful....I've also heard vinegar and Listerine is good, but the smell is overwhelming and may be harmful.

I’m doing warm soapy water for the soaks. Almost all of the black discoloring is from the blu kote (where there’s been a little bleeding when the scales come off). The little bleeding and rawness of the skin is why I’m staying away from anything like a salty or vinegar soak.

There are a couple of toe tips that, as the scales got worse seem to have cut off circulation and caused some necrosis. It doesn’t show well in the pictures... I’m going to try to get some better ones, but there are some reddish black areas now becoming visible under the encrusted scales.

I’m not sure if this works... but the two leftmost arrows (one in each picture) that casportpony marked up here are where there’s the most remaining problems, and where I think there’s possible toe loss coming.

If the pictures aren’t accessible in the quote, the post is on page 4.

It’s a severe scaly leg mite infestation... I’m pretty sure all the mites are very dead by now, considering the consistency and amounts of Vaseline I’ve been applying since Christmas. Now I’m just dealing with the scale and foot damage. Which the Vaseline and soaking has been softening until it can be gently removed.

Ok, these show a bit better her “bad foot” the left one she wasn’t standing on initially and the toe in most worried about

And I’m not sure why her “good foot” right, with the missing toe, is so chapped and dry looking.

Yesterday I skipped the soaking and just vaselined her feet again. Planning a long soak (as long as I can keep her in it! She’s not a fan and I’m happy she’s got the energy back to show me that!) and then Vaseline and a litter change in her crate. I might make her up a “training roost” in the evening if I have time.

I build super low roosting bars on blocks for my younger chicks to learn to roost on in their brooder, and for the chickens in the “outside coop” because it’s more like a rabbit hutch in size and construction.
