So I’ve made it through the first year of raising chickens. I have 11 hens and one Speckled Sussex rooster who has started to attack me. I tried some of the techniques to get him to stop, staring him down and feeding him treats by hand, but he still runs after me when I’m in the yard. I found a new home for him, but I want to get another rooster that’s not aggressive toward me. Is it going to be okay to introduce a new rooster to my flock? I don’t want any of them to get hurt or injured. What breed of rooster should I look for and what should I expect when Introducing him to my hens?.

Why are you wanting a rooster?
I don’t have my rooster to fertilize eggs just for protection of the flock while free ranging.... and of course I love a rooster’s crow.

First, read this thread, all the way to the happy ending.

I think this answers most of your questions. If you still have more, let me know.

What breed of rooster should I look for
One that meets your goals. For integration, breed is not important, get a rooster you'll like. What you want is a rooster that is mature. Get one at least a year old and probably not over two years old.
