I have 8 chicks 6 weeks old, moved them out to the coop in there own cage with a heat light @ 5 weeks. all seemed well. took the lamp out last night, one seemed to be very week today. only the one. I went out this morning and she was laying in the corner away from the rest. I picked her up she was very dosile I put her next to the water , she drank some but still is all hunched over and week looking. I put the lamp back on and opened the cage so if they wanted to join the rest of the flock they could, but she is still not good. what do I do now?

give her some electrolyte water or mix corn syrup with water,
electrolyte powder, 1 teaspoon to 1 gallon water
or 1 teaspoon corn syrup to a cup of water

hope every thing goes good

Molasses works well, too. I had one do the same thing-she earned an evening inside watching t.v. on a towel in my lap. Next day (+ mollasses water and some hard boiled egg treats) she was right as rain.

Made me feel a lot better, too!

thank you so much. she is back to herself and all is well.

keeping them all away from the rest of the flock though. Rooster is very mean to them going to wait untill they are a bit bigger.

I lost one last night to a dog and it lifts my heart to know that your little one is O.K.

I am so glad your chick is OK, that is good news!

Did you figure out what was wrong with her? I thought if I got them through the first two weeks it would be smooth sailing, so want to be prepared for what else might go wrong...
