Do not feed your chickens layer feed in the winter because they do not need the extra calcium in their diet since they are not laying eggs. Giving them unneeded calcium can cause liver problems.

Giving them a complete feed and making sure they go to roost with a full crop in a dry well ventilated coop is the best you can do for them.
