I am looking into what others feed their peafowl chicks and adults. Not your home made mixes but already mixed bags you buy at store.
I personally feed 20% flock raiser by Purina. From hatch and entire life. Of corse I give extra stuff as treats such as cat food, millworms, fruits and vegis.:: but what I’m curious about is what others feed for their main feed.
I have heard of feeding chicks medicated game bird feed... but other places it says NEVER feed medicated to peafowl.
at moment I feed my chicken chicks medicated chick starter and then at 6 wks I feed them the same non medicated flock raiser I feed my peafowl.
Looking for input from others.... thnx so much

Idk who said you can't feed medicated to peafowl when young but I have for years. The adults get gamebird grower pellets (24%) and the chicks get chick starter and mealworms from day 1 through 6 weeks then they get the same as the adults.

Brad replied to my inquiry. Just posting Incase someone has same question. He says 20% non medicated flock raiser is fine the peafowls entire life. If you want to up protein you can give treats a couple times a week higher in protein “also providing grit if giving treats”. but they do fine on just 20%. Medicated starter does nothing for peafowl. You need to medicate them for cocci another way. Provide oyster shell for hens during laying season.
Thnx for your replies. 😁
