Hey all...... any reason why my ducks would be going inside their coop at night on their own? The last two nights they have gone in on their own. Lucky is molting like crazy and it’s been very hot here but I still can’t imagine why. Do you think I should be concerned?

Have you been going out later? Mine would sometimes go in if I went out later than normal. Or maybe just the extended daylight hours, they had enough day time, and the heat!

It’s probably cooler outside than in the coop. We’ve have temps in the 90’s the last couple days and I think it’s warmer in the coop. It seems so odd

I’ve been thinking about leaving them out with this heat but I get so nervous. I did everything with 1/4 hardware cloth except the bottom because I wanted them to have the grass. I did put a 12”apron of hardware cloth all around the pen to prevent anything from digging but I don’t know if that’s safe enough. Any ideas?

I think you would be pretty safe unless you have some kind of predator like a bear or maybe a Fisher that could rip through the hardware cloth.. And in that case there Probably wouldn't be much stopping it anyway.
I've been leaving the calls out in the palace. . I'm pretty confident in its predator proof ness. So far so good. The only thing that has gotten in so far was a craw- dad. Scared the be geebers out of them but not a huge threat lol.
