What to get the chickens for Christmas???

Hello everyone-

Christmas IS coming, and this is our first gift-giving holiday with chickens. Our six girls are all laying now and they need presents.

So what to give them????

Hows about some little lettuces hanging on strings for them to jump up and peck at, then a clear cylinder or ball with little crickets inside that they can roll around the pen and make the poor little crickets dizzy!!!

The crickets don't last long enough here to get dizzy!! lol!

I was just thinking the same thing....Ohhh, whatto do for the babies....all 65 of them!!!!! So...here is what I planned out....


On the night before Christmas...I'll rush through the house
Grabbing Oatmeal, and raisins....so no ones left out.
I'll stand at the stove, stirring pot after pot...
and packing in bowls, to microwave hot.
DH in the arm chair, warm from the fires glow...
I will be trudging, through mountains of snow.
OFF TO THE COOP so the babies get fed.....
warm oatmeal and raisins...just before bed.
I'll pat fuzzy butts, kiss feathered heads light
and make sure to turn on thier rooster night light.
As I leave I will whisper...sleep well little ones
For tomorrow is Christmas...and Santa will come.

I'm sure mine will want the same thing they always want... FOOD! Maybe they'll get lucky and find some crickets or mealworms in their stockings!

Chicken stockings.....I can see it now...65 little red stockings...hanging all over the coops!! Ohhh, DH would definately think I lost it then!

Oh Deb, that is such a beautiful poem, It shows that your mind is indeed in a great place now, thank Heavens, glad you are having fun at last!!!
I can see all of your little stockings, how are you going to put their names on them so they wont fight over them.
