What to give chickens to help their respiratory system

My chickens have had a respiratory problem for a while it goes and comes and they haven't laid an egg in almost a year and today they've been just standing there all puffed up and I'm really worried about them and my mom says me might have to give them away

How old are they? What have been all of the symptoms that you have seen with the respiratory problem? Have you seen sneezing or coughing, watery or bubbly eyes, nasal drainage, crackles with breathing, or gasping? There are 8 or more common respiratory diseases, including bacterial ones (MG and coryza, viral—infectious bronchitis, ILT, others, and fungal ones (aspergillosis.) Symptoms may point to one of those. Many diseases make the whole flock carriers for life. They are 2 years old they had a big flair up about 1and a half year ago and I had 4 die. We cured it whith an antibiotic injection and ever since they have not been laying constantly and suddenly stopped. They have sneezing and coughing sometimes bad and sometimes basically gone I've been trying vet rx and it helps but it's just hard trying to catch all 6. There are 5 of the original hens and 1 rooster we added earlier this year. One of the hens a salmon favorell the only one that survived has been sneezing and has it the worst when they flair up. I understand they could have it all their life and want to find things to strengthen their immune system.

Vet Rx has nothing in it to cure or treat a respiratory disease, only herbal oils, pine, and camphor, so similar to Vicks. Unfortunately most chronic respiratory diseases will be passed on to all new flock members, and they may not achieve their potential for laying eggs and having good health. Infectious bronchitis virus may cause reproductive or kidney disorders later. I had IBV in my flock early on, and many hens stopped laying early, and had many reproductive problems including internal laying or salpingitis, ascites, and did not live to an old age. If you have seen any wrinkled egg shells, that can be a sign of IBV. Most people with a respiratory disease close their flocks to any new birds, and wait until all birds are gone, then get new healthy baby chicks again someday. That can take years. I advise to never get chickens from anyone else, swap meets, or sales, because that is a good way to bring in diseases. I will only get healthy baby chicks from a hatchery or feed store in the future.

How do Insure they live a good healthy life? Can I get new chicks in a separate coop? I'm sad about this bc they're my pets and I don't know what to do

You can't get new chicks unless you practice complete bio security. i.e The coop is on the opposite side of your land, shoes and maybe clothes changes, gloves. Nothing goes from one coop to another. You birds will likely never recover, it might be best to cull one, send one of for necropsy to see what's going on, and go from there.

I feed them Purina layina pellets and oyster shells and give them fruit and veggies. Culling is not an option as I am very attached to them bc I raised them since they were one day old and they are very docile. So culling out of of question Ive already lost to many I can't handle another

Do not give away sick birds. I have a bird with a respiratory issue (sneezing) that flares up under bad stress which is only once since I got her. None of my other birds have ever gotten it and we've been to the vet and tried antibiotics to no avail. It just went away on its own but in all that time she never stopped laying eggs. Do you have an avian vet you can take one of the birds to? Oregano is supposed to be good for their respiratory system but I don't think its meant as a cure for anything. If your birds do recover you might want to do some research on it maybe it can help them keep it at bay.

We don't know. We don't know what it is so we don't know how to treat it. You need to seek a avian vet to run tests to see what it is.
