what to look for in candling early on

I started my 36 eggs in LG on Mon. I have a turner and have 5 egg spaces left open. . I am getting 6+ eggs shipped possibly today. I need a little more room for those eggs. If I candle with a flashlight from above (not moving eggs), what should I be looking for on day 2 as far as eggs that are developing.? It almost looks like I can see the beginnings of air spaces on some and nothing on others. I just need to switch out about 3 eggs.

Unless they are small white thin shelled eggs you wont see anything at all at day 2 , I can sometimes see a hint of blood vessles on day 3 in white eggs but its usually day 4 or 5 befor its for shure what I see and then I always give them till day 7 just to be shure , I give brown pink green or olive eggs at least 10 - 14 days.

Would seeing the beginnings of an air cell mean that it is developing at this point and would not seeing anything mean that it is not developing?

They should all have an air cell. That flat spot on the big end of your hard- boiled eggs? That's your air cell. And you really will need to wait til at least day four to see veining. Maybe you could stack the eggs and hand turn them? I have no doubt that hundreds of BYC members have overloaded bators at this very moment, maybe they have suggestions.

If your eggs are being shipped today then I would wait a day or two before candling, that way there would be more to see.

I just candled my eggs at day 4, and veins were just visible in possibly 2 of 3 eggs. I would wait for 7 days if dark eggs but 4 days for white eggs should be fine.

How would I go about overloading the bator. Where is a good place to put extras? How do you stack them if they are in a turner?
