What to put under the roost

Then not sure why you feel you need to do something different,
adding some kind of bin/tray might be more trouble than it's worth,
unless you just can't stand to have poop there.
Also, if your birds are not yet laying, the volume of poops will increase by about 3 fold once they do start laying, so maybe a manure management change is in order.
Theyre all laying. And believe you me, i noticed the increase. I cant stand the idea of them walking around in their own feces. I also like to eliminate possibilities for bacteria and insect growth. I think of the whole thing like a petri dish. I want them to be happy and healthy so i want to keep it clean in the most efficient and reasonable way possible

Food trays is also a good idea. We would like to get something that is all one piece if possible.
Yes that is a weeks worth of poop. I cleaned it on sunday. We dont have a fly problem or any bug problems and ive never smelled ammonia from the coop at all but i think this is because i clean it regularly.
Yes that is the upper roost. Good idea on moving it. Ill have to do so later today(after i clean it of course!)
Maybe one of those under the bed totes? Some of them are pretty long.

Btw all clean now.

we covered a large portion of our coop floor with cheap stick down tiles and then I have a dog crate tray that I place under the roosts. I spread pine shavings in and outside the tray. I remove the tray and sweep out other shavings as needed and the sticky tiles clean up pretty easily and for my size coop a $20 box allows for replacements as needed!
I took some photos of my coop today

We use trays under the roost filled with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of PDZ granules. We scoop out the poop daily (schedules permitting). We use a 15x30 boot tray and a 16x12 food tray, which catch maybe 80% of the poop. 18" wide trays would be better.
