What to send an "adopted" soldier for Christmas?

my soldier loves home made cookies, it usually takes 1-2 weeks to get there, and they tend to be mashed, but he loves them. oatmeal raisin cooked well, tend to travel well. He loves candy, and shares it with his friends. also loves magazines, Nat Geo, Gun & ammo, etc. dvds, itunes gift cards (he NEEDS his music!), and FOOT powder. that one, he gets low on, and calls me begging...

From something I read tonight on an ehow website, it is no longer recommended that you send home baked goods to service members. We did it when my brother was stationed in Korea many moons ago, but they say that in todays military they are told to throw out unpackaged baked goods.

This is why I send pop tarts. The guy loves the blueberry ones. I also send chocolate chip granola bars. Pre made, pre-packaged stuff is allowed.

When I was deployed overseas my favorite thing to receive was homemade cookies. Believe it or not there are px or stores that you can buy some package goods at but home baked goods are priceless

And on behalf of those of us that have served THANK YOU ! You can't imagine how much it means to a soldier to know that someone is thinking of him.
