For those who love cochins, I need some suggestions. With our first 4H show behind us, I would like some suggestions or ideas on what type of cochin to show next year. Mind you, we generally do not go with the usual or typical. For instance we showed English Angora rabbits this year while everyone else showed New Zealands, mini lops, jersey wooleys, etc. For goats next year we will be showing nigerian dwarfs versus the usual pygmys, boars etc. You have an idea what I mean. We showed black this year b/c that's what we had. I would like ideas on what to show next year so I can work on finding them before then.

There are always the mille fleurs... we do need to start getting them shown, out and about.... If you want to try some of those for next year, PM me. It is not really the right time of year, but later on maybe I can get you a head start on some. The only thing is, and I don't show, but since they are not a recognized color, the highest you can place is best of variety I think.

Are you wanting to stick with cochins? Or are you looking for any showy, uncommon breed?

How about white faced black spanish? Phoenix? D'anvers, bantam cuckoo marans, asil, chocolate or khaki polish? Lots of uncommon breeds and varieties that are recognised. What traits do you like/dislike?

We have black and blue. I do want to get some frizzles and definately want a columbian. I'm not opposed to getting a different breed than cochin. We put our two welsummers in but they were on the young side. I have a sicilian buttercup but she was even younger so I she couldn't go. I've thought about a phoenix and the Grand Champion was a phoenix/sumatra cross. The pair was beautiful! There were so many BO's, Barred Rocks, RIR's, etc. I just want something different. I think there were about 5 phoenix and 3 sumatra's. Tell me more about the asil's as someone had a tote with about 8 in there. I'm not sure if they were selling them or they had bought them. I'm not keen on the spanish or the polish. We were considering silkies too.
