What to use to sanatize? and something to deworm?

I've often wondered about sanitizing feeders/waterers, too. I typically run mine through my dishwasher - I feel like since the water gets so hot, it will most likely kill any bacteria on the waterer/feeders. Thoughts?

Those Safeguard crumbles that 1stState sells for chicks work, too. Ours are free range and I talked to the Chickendoctor last year about what a huge hassle it is to catch all our birds to orally deworm each one. He told me the Safeguard crumbles (for chicks) work for adult birds, too, and it was ok to use that. It seems to be; we use it twice a year whether we see any signs of worms or not, and they seem to be fine. Actually you're supposed to deworm them more often than that..I think every month ideally...but, it we did that, we would never be able to eat or sell any eggs, since there's a three week waiting period after you deworm before you eat the eggs. So, in between times, we use DE occasionally.

I use VirkonS ...I use it for several things (including for mold on my garden plants)... it is the least corrosive of the disinfectants (and also the most effective in the prescence of organic matter) and so is extremely useful for brooders and incubators

For worming I use a spot-on and here is an article on that and the product:

I alternate with fenbendazol to ensure against resistance issues.

I clean with just vinegar and water. For worms I just give them pumkin seeds. But then I'm into natural stuff.
